(2-NAPHTHYL)METHYLZINC BROMIDE - Introduction

(2-Naphthylmethyl)zinc bromide is an organic zinc compound with the chemical formula C12H9BrZn. It is a white to pale yellow crystalline solid, stable in air. It is soluble in some organic solvents, such as diethyl ether and dichloromethane.

(2-Naphthylmethyl) inc bromide are commonly used in reduction reactions and coupling reactions in organic synthesis. It can be used as an oxidant for the reduction of alcohols to aldehydes and ketones. In addition, it can also be used as a reducing agent in the organic synthesis of aniline and metal-organic chemical reactions.

Preparation of (2-naphthylmethyl) zinc bromide can be obtained by reacting dinaphthalene bromide ketone with zinc powder. First, zinc powder was suspended in ether, and lithium bromide was added, followed by dinaphthalene bromide. After completion of the reaction, the solid obtained is filtered off, washed and dried.

Regarding safety information,(2-Naphthylmethyl) zine bromide has certain toxicity. Use should follow laboratory safety practices and wear appropriate protective measures, such as lab gloves and goggles. In addition, it should be kept away from heat and fire sources and stored in a dry and well-ventilated place. If you accidentally touch the skin or eyes, you should immediately rinse with plenty of water. If you feel unwell, you should seek medical help.
